Major Ensembles
All music majors must perform in a major ensemble each semester throughout their course of study.
The Wind Ensemble is open to all university students by audition. Placement is determined by the audition score and needs of the ensemble. The ensemble performs standard literature.
The Concert Band is open to the general college student by audition. It is required of instrumental music majors who are not selected for the Wind Ensemble. The band performs standard literature.
The Jazz Ensemble is open to all students subject to the approval of the director. The ensemble was originally formed to provide performance experience in standard jazz repertoire. In addition to the standard jazz repertoire, the ensemble regularly performs student’s original compositions and arrangements.
The ASU Concert Choir is open to all students by audition. This organization offers a challenge to the singers in that the literature demands a high caliber of performance. Voice majors are required to sing in this organization.
Small ensembles

Chamber Ensemble is an auditioned performance ensemble designed for the advanced choral singer at the college level. Jazz Combo is a small group ensemble that performs traditional jazz literature. For more information contact Dr. David Miller.
Low Brass Ensemble is a chamber ensemble. The group performs a variety of literature written for Low Brass ensemble combinations. For more information contact Mr. Byron Chatman.
Men Chorale is dedicated to building a brotherhood within the choral tradition and to performing a wide variety of music written specifically for male voices. Membership in this ensemble is open to all students at the University. For more information contact Dr. Alona Alexander.
ASU Steel and Percussion Ensemble is required for all percussion applied students. The ensemble performs a variety of genres written specifically for percussion chamber and large ensembles. Students will perform on a variety of percussion instruments: marimba, vibraphone, various drums, and percussion accessory instruments. ASU Streel is dedicated to steel drum ensemble literature. Saxophone Quartet is a chamber ensemble. The group performs a variety of literature and is open to non-music and music majors. For more information contact Dr. Everson Martin.
String Ensemble is a chamber ensemble. The group performs a variety of literature written and arranged for Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. For more information contact Dr. Oscar Martinez.
Trumpet Quartet is a chamber ensemble. The group explores various genres of music that are written and arranged for trumpet ensemble. The Trumpet Quartet gives various performances, giving students chances to market themselves as an ensemble. The students learn meaningful ensemble connections and experiences.
